History Festival 2019: Queer Time and Space – What do you meme?

What do a grumpy cat and Rick Astley have in common? They are both memes! But what are memes, and how have they played a part in queer expression and community-making in the digital age? Join local prolific meme-creator Rae Pope as we explore memes as a pop-cultural art form – and make our own!

Join the History Trust of South Australia for a lively History Festival lecture series exploring the theme ‘Queer Time and Place’. Over three weeks in May, guest speakers will share histories, ideas and experiences of queer times and queer places and the intersection of the two.
