2007 Rock and Roll Rendezvous
presented by Eastside Performance and Dyno Centre.

Close to 4000 people rock & rolled the day away on Sunday 25 February in the grounds of the National Motor Museum at the 16th Rock & Roll Rendezvous.  Ingo’s Vegas Tribute to Elvis (commemorating 30 years since the legend’s death) had the crowd on their feet and women clamouring at the front of the stage to be “scarfed” by “Elvis”.

Perhaps the standout performance was Rockin’ Sox – 3 young lads (all under 13) who powered through their rock & roll songs and had the dance floor packed.  Dance demonstrations by Club Slick, from the Down Syndrome Society of SA Inc and students from Elizabeth Grove School engaged the crowd and proved that rock & roll will indeed live on and this event is not just about the baby boomers.

Some 320 pre 1976 vehicle entrants supported the event ranging from the chrome and fins of the American makes to the Australian offerings of the period and the Custom & Rod machines.  Vehicles were judged in the categories of Best Original, Best Custom or Rod and Best Spirit of the Day, which is awarded for the best combination of vehicle and occupants. The SA Cruiser Club and Trike Association added to the spectacle as display clubs.

The event was brought forward into February from its more traditional March/April date to avoid the clutter of events in Adelaide during March.  The date of the 2008 Rendezvous will be released shortly so stay posted.
