Immigration and Settlement of South Australia

Migration Museum GalleriesThe Migration Museum galleries explore why people chose to come to South Australia, who came, how they came, what they brought with them and the effect immigration has had on those already living here.

As you walk through the main galleries of the Museum you take a chronological journey through South Australia’s immigration history. Since the foundation of South Australia as a British colony in 1836 immigration has had an important role in shaping our state.

FThe stories told in the Migration Museum are stories of the people who have made our history. As the Museum continues to develop the main galleries new voices are added to the displays. The story continues up to the present day.
