Tree of Life

South Australian Jewish Community

13 June – 29 August 1999

Opened by the Hon. Dr Jane Lomax-Smith, Lord Mayor of Adelaide

This exhibition highlighted the history and cultural achievements of the Jewish community in South Australia tracing the waves of immigration from early British settlers in 1836 to the immigration of the 1980s from Russia and South Africa. The organisers created a family setting to demonstrate the history and the traditions of the Sabbath, as well as a short film of archival footage and interviews of the history of the Jewish community in South Australia.
