Greek Women’s Auxiliary of the Sts Constantine and Helen Church “Tabitha”

December 2001 – February 2002

Opened by the Hon. Steve Condous, representing the Premier of South Australia

The work of ‘Tabitha’, the Greek Women’s Auxiliary of the Sts Constantine and Helen Church, over the past 30 years was presented in this exhibition. The exhibition featured craft work, religious objects, photographs and documentation of the charitable work of Tabitha. The original rationale behind the women’s group was the outfitting/upkeep of the Church, supporting the parish and forming a support network for Greek women. This expanded to include a broad range of activities supporting the wider community. The exhibition documented many of these activities, including raising money for the Cardiac Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, fund raising for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Bone Growth Foundation, supporting CANTEEN, supporting the Anti-Cancer Foundation and supporting and establishing links with the Warrabri Aboriginal Community.
