The Main Galleries & Public Programs

History is always being re-told and the Migration Museum exhibitions reflect this. Changing exhibitions canvass a wide range of topics covering the many histories and diverse cultures of South Australia. Workshops for students and teachers are often presented to coincide with changing exhibitions. For information on current workshops see the Education Information section.

The permanent exhibitions take the visitor on a walk through immigration history in South Australia. While British immigration dominated the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, South Australia’s wide range of cultural and ethnic groups emerges through the stories told here. A computerised database extends these stories with information on the origins, history and traditions of different groups who live in South Australia.
