Keeping the Past: The Museum Collection

The Migration Museum focuses on cultural diversity through the immigration and settlement history of South Australia. When objects are put on display in the Museum they bring to life the stories of South Australians from many different cultural backgrounds, different age groups and a wide range of experiences.

In collecting objects the Museum becomes a keeping place for the stories of South Australian people. Changing exhibitions at the museum make use of a range of objects, both from the Museum’s collection and on loan from communities. In this way exhibitions are able to present a range of issues.
