EXHIBITIONS

Finns Down Under: A Photographic Record Until 27th August 2007

Finnish migrants settled in many parts of Australia and they came from a range of social backgrounds. As well as adapting to their new country they brought with them ideas, skills and experiences. In this unusual and exceptionally beautiful work by Finnish-Australian photographer Kirsi Reinikka each image reflects the harshness of the Australian landscape and the resilience of the people. It is a visual representation of Finnish settlement in the latter part of the c20th. The exhibition will include interpretive text panels about each of the photographs giving the background and short history of those featured.

The Cyprus Story: From Ashes to Prosperity - Until 29th August 2007

Presented by a number of Cypriot families who have settled in South Australia, this exhibition - a display of courage, survival and identity in a new-found home - aims to demonstrate the major part of the Greek-Cypriot experience in this country and to enrich the experience of the general public of Australia’s history. The exhibition traces the history of Greek-Cypriots in South Australia with major themes on The Island Nation, Migrant Stories and Cypriots Arriving in South Australia.
