Our Programs

THE COMMUNITY HISTORY UNIT

PROVIDES historical information and advice to museums, historical societies, historians and researchers across the State through its History Resource Centre

MANAGES a significant photographic collection of over 14,000 images, the Glass Negatives Collection

OPERATES the Museums Accreditation and Grants Program for South Australian community museums and historical societies

ADMINISTERS the South Australian History Fund, a grants fund to encourage research in and presentation of South Australia’s history in the community.

OFFERS advice, assistance and training programs to the State-wide network of museums and historical societies

COORDINATES regional interpretive history projects

HOLDS an annual State History Conference, alternating venues between metropolitan Adelaide and a regional location

PRODUCES the History Matters magazine

KEEPS a list of museum consultants and designers

MAINTAINS a directory of South Australia’s community museums and historical societies
