The History Trust's Community Museums Program (CMP) is an assistance and grants program for South Australia's community, local and specialist museums. 
The Community Museums Program:

• fosters the development of a strong network of high quality community museums throughout South Australia
• sets standards across a range of museum activities
• helps museums to achieve and maintain these standards through training, advice and assistance and through a grants fund.

Standards are set at two levels:

• Registration (minimum standards)
• Accreditation (acknowledging museums operating according to standards of excellence).

ACCESSING GRANTS
Community museums and historical societies registered or accredited under the History Trust’s Community Museums Program can apply each year for grants to undertake the following types of projects:

• Telling History (displays and other public programs)
• Managing Collections
• Regional Preservation Fund (for conservation projects)
• Museum planning and infrastructure
