South Australian History Fund

The South Australian History Fund encourages and supports historical societies, museums, local councils and
other eligible community organisations to research, publish and preserve aspects
of South Australia’s social and community history.
Since its establishment, the South Australian History Fund has supported the
following:
Publications:
- Well-written and well-researched histories which have a South Australian
focus, in particular a regional, local
or specialist focus, in the form of books, pamphlets, booklets, CDs, historical walking and driving tours
Publication Applicants
Intending publication applicants are advised that the SAHF 2008-09 guidelines that were available from this web site between 14 June and 5 August contained incorrect information.
Please note that publication grants:
- Are available for well-researched and well-written narrative histories focusing on South Australia, and in particular with a regional, local or specialist focus
- Organisations are advised to use the services of a professional historian
- Grants can be sought as a contribution towards publishing or editing costs or the costs of image reproduction
- Types of publications may include books, pamphlets, CDs and other media
- The amount of grant is up to $3,000.
The guidelines on this web site from 6 August are correct.
If intending publication applicants have any queries or concerns please contact the History Trust on 8203 9888. The History Trust apologises for any inconvenience and undertakes to contact any publication applicants who submit applications based on the incorrect guidelines so that they can resubmit their applications.
Projects:
- Marking of heritage trails
- Conservation work on significant items related to a community’s history
- Purchase of equipment for oral history projects
- Employment of a professional historian or editor to assist in research or preparation
of a history publication
- Interpretation projects.
- Digitising locally significant photographic or document collections
- Regional collaborative history projects
Research:
- One to three year major research projects that lead to a scholarly
publication about South Australian history
The 2008/09 grant round opens on 16 June and closes
on 29 August 2008. The Fund is announced in the Advertiser, and on the History Trust’s website.
