The Community History Unit offers the following services:
For museums and historical societies:
- Advice on attaining registration and accreditation status under the Museums
Accreditation and Grants Program
- Referral to designers, museum consultants, professional historians and editors
- Training workshops, including:
- Museum strategic planning, development and review
- Organising your museum: basic museum practices
- Collections management, including
- Education Programs
- Community access, ownership and involvement
- Volunteers, training them and keeping them
- Marketing, sponsorship and promoting your museum
For individual authors, historians, researchers, museums, historical
societies and the general public:
- Advice and assistance on historical research, including guides to sources
- Advice and assistance on writing history and oral history projects
- Advice and assistance on photo searches
- Access to History Resource Centre and Glass Negatives Collection
- Advice on the preservation of historical items
- Advice on finding the right ‘home’ for historical treasures
